Hello everyone, happy February.

A little belated, I know, but…finally, Billy the Badger is Sad is out now on Amazon.

And it’s having some rave reviews, we have some lovely reviews trickling in and the people I’ve spoken to have said they are recommending it on to a friend, or relative, which is the best marketing ever.

It seemed like a bit of an uphill slog at the end in trying to finalise the last few pages, but we got there.

We have an Ebook version at £2.99 and a paperback version at £5.99

Hello everyone, how are you all?

Happy New Year to you all.

Definitely feeling the Sunday blues in our house today.  Not that we had a busy Christmas, we certainly didn’t with Omicron around but my week is out of kilter now.  I’m convinced it’s Tuesday and need to be putting the recycling out – what am I like?

Anyway been busy finalising the book, the layout of both the paperback and the Kindle should be with me today for checking and signing off.  Exciting!  I truly am proud of this book and I hope you’ll love it just as much as I do.

As I say, launching on 7th January, 2022, it will be around £5-6 on Amazon, not sure yet until the book is finally uploaded and I see what Amazon intend to charge to print it, but it should be around that price.  Let me know what you think.  Do you like it, will you consider buying it for your little one?  Also, I don’t think I mentioned this, but a donation will be made for every book sold, to Badger Trust West Midlands, so raising funds for a good cause too.

Hello everyone, how are you all?

Hope you’ve had a good Christmas, or that it was at least better than last year.  Sadly, we were a place missing last year when we couldn’t see our eldest son, and this year, he was there but not his dad.  The last three years have been tough on all of us and my heart goes out to anyone who has lost a loved one for whatever reason.

However, life cracks on apace, I’m afraid and all we can do is go with the flow for a while until we have the strength to, once again, take charge and find new directions.

And speaking of new things, we have a new book coming out on 7th January 2022.  This would have been my husband’s 71st birthday, so it’s extra special this time.  The book is written in rhyme this time and the illustrations are gorgeous.

This is the first page of the book, where Bubble is hoping that Squeek can come round and play.

Teena Rahim, who illustrated the book has captured Bubble’s personality beautifully.  In Teena I found someone who I’ve been able to work with in creating just the right mood for my characters.

She is sooo darn cute, Bubble that is LOL.

The story is about how fearful Bubble is of Billy the badger but once she gets talking to him and understands why he’s so sad, as ever, she wants to help him and in doing so, finds out what ALL of us can do to help him too.

As ever, the book is styled not only on the message of easy ways to help our wildlife, but also on principles of tolerance, inclusion and friendship, which is illustrated by Bubble’s attitude as the book progresses.

With each page that Teena created. I oohed and aahed just a little more, she has also captured Squeek’s playfulness in other pages.  I just LOVE her work.

As I say, launching on 7th January, 2022, it will be around £5-6 on Amazon, not sure yet until the book is finally uploaded and I see what Amazon intend to charge to print it, but it should be around that price.  Let me know what you think.  Do you like it, will you consider buying it for your little one?

❤🎙❤ NEWS – February Already? – Where Did January Go??!!

Wow!  Where did the month of January go?  Is it me, or does it seem that the UK weather just continues to get colder and colder, lol.  We are currently awaiting a deluge of snow here at Prickly Hedge, but so far we have avoided it.  Just had a socially distanced doorstep delivery (food) from our eldest son, it’s soo awful to have to keep him on the step and watch him dither, insisting he’s not cold.  We’re Skyping later, but nothing is quite the same as seeing him in person.  Hopefully, there’s light at the end of the tunnel this year.

We have Valentine’s Day to look forward to and we can all help spread some love on social media or through connecting with our loved ones.  It’s not a day for just partners, but for anyone who loves anyone.  We have a craft video coming up at the end of the week on making cards.  You can get a sneak preview of it here.

https://youtu.be/TMEU_HWwchM

February is also the time for the hazel catkins to appear, not sure if we’ll get any at Prickly Hedge this year as other half has truly taken our tree to the hairdressers (lucky tree), so it’s looking a tad pollarded at the moment.

If you want to know how to identify hazel trees in Winter, you can check out our video here https://youtu.be/ZUZvKC1NhG8

You can also check out the latest environmental news straight from the likes of The Independent, Huffington Post and Greenpeace.

One of the weirder news items this week has been about cube-shaped poo from Wombats!  Yeah, you read that right.  You can check out the article here Check out latest news at https://www.pricklyhedge.com/right-sidebar

Or watch the video in the article here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWjLc7ez9lM&feature=youtu.be

So, let’s get crafting some lovely Valentine Cards for later in the month and see if you can identify any hazel trees as you go on your daily exercise walk.  If you do see any, drop a photo on our FB page /pricklyhedge or draw some and post them on the page, we’d love to see them.  If you do create some Valentine cards, snap a shot of those too and let us see what you’ve been up to this week.

Much love from me and all #TeamBubble here at Prickly Hedge
